Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, our doctors manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions. They practice a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery. This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. We can also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries, and fractures.
Periodontal dentistry involves the areas of the mouth in the periphery of the teeth, namely the gums and jaw bone. Periodontists primarily address conditions such as periodontitis and gingivitis to ensure optimal dental health. Gum disease can lead to a deterioration of the bone that supports the structure of the teeth, leading to widespread infection and tooth loss, among other repercussions. When periodontal disease has reached an advanced stage, it can contribute to a variety of systemic and chronic conditions throughout the body, such as heart disease and osteoporosis. Because plaque buildup is a leading contributor to gingivitis, it is important to brush and floss at least once per day; however, some people are more susceptible to gum disease due to the nature of their saliva. Individuals should seek the services of a periodontist if they experience bleeding gums, halitosis, loose adult teeth, or a noticeably receding gum line.
Parkside Endodontics, Oral Surgery and Periodontics has the most technologically advanced equipment including digital surgical operating microscope. We have digital radiography which significantly reduces your exposure to radiation and helps in diagnoses and treatment plan review. Our eco-friendly paperless charting system allows us to reduce waste and save our valuable resources.
Cone Beam X-Rays
Cone beam CT x-rays use a special kind of technology to produce detailed three dimensional images of soft tissues, nerve paths, dental structures, and bone in a single scan. This cutting edge technology gives us a better idea of the dental shifts that might occur in the future which could affect the treatment options that we recommend today, allowing us to provide more precise treatment planning.
Safety & Sterilization
Each instrument used for endodontic and oral surgery treatment in our office is sterilized. Every item has been carefully pre-cleaned, dried, packaged and treated in an autoclave at 265 degrees with 25 PSI for 15 minutes or more. Hand pieces are sprayed with disinfectant and are sterilized in a cassette autoclave.
